Michael did fabulous work and just really took care of me in my indecisiveness and neurosis. He was infinitely patient and, I felt, wanted the best for me. He works with a fabulous designer, who with his initial ideas and vision, transformed my home. I highly recommend him, his team, and hope to work with him again in the future.

We wish to thank you so much for the great job on the Barron Bluff Building project. The work was performed under the most adverse circumstances relative to timing constraints and weather. I must admit when I looked at the long-range weather forecasts in relation to the compressed time frame due to the scheduled wedding, I was skeptical. But your personnel were very professional and dedicated to optimizing the operations, and to working the long hours, even in cold rain. When the rotting was discovered in the existing wall, adding complexity, the problem was resolved with minimal impact.

I heard from people who attended the time constraining wedding and their comment was that the venue was pristine, and nobody realized that “hours earlier” the area was an active construction site.

On behalf of all of us associated with Burritt on the Mountain, I congratulate you and your people, and thank you for a job well planned and well implemented. It was pleasure doing business with you.

In 2012, after talking with many custom home builders, and several of their clients, we went with Michael.  I’m an engineer, and had built a large, auto-calculating spreadsheet comparing all of the builders I talked with and had estimates from - about 12!  Michael was not the cheapest that we talked with, but he afforded us the most flexibility in allotments for various things (appliances, flooring, etc) that allowed us to save money where we wanted, and spend more where we wanted, so that things came out in the end the way we desired.  We gave him custom plans we were in the process of completing with an architect, and one of the first things he noticed, after having visited our building lot, was that the large attic space above our garage could be made into a usable playroom by lowering the garage floor a couple of feet. Other, smaller things like that happened during the build process - he would notice small things we could modify and get much bigger benefits. The week we moved in we discovered a leaking water problem and within the hour he was at our house to assess the situation.  It turned out to be something the electricians had accidentally done during the wrap up week, but he worked with them, other subs, and insurance (on his part) to make sure everything was taken care of to our (and his) satisfaction. Our house has been great all this time.  Over the years we realized we didn’t get things exactly right (it’s always that way!), and just this year we decided to add a new family room off the back and tie it into the old family room. This required removing two windows, a gas fireplace, adding a new exterior door to access the patio, and connecting a totally new roof line into the back of the house. I met with several builders, and decided to use Michael again.  The build process was again very easy and communication flowed both ways so that I always knew what was going on - that is very important to me when taking on projects like that.  I would recommend contacting Michael, and just recently when I was outside someone stopped on the road in front of our house asking to know who built it simply because they liked how it looked. I told him, gave him the number, and have done that with others over the years.

Michael has done two projects for us – a private residence and the beautiful Home Store at The Greenery. In both cases he had the vision and the sources to deliver buildings with great character and period details. He is great at “thinking outside the box” and making things happen. No matter what challenges you throw at him, Michael always finds a way to say “Yes, we can do that”.

What a fantastic home we were able to build on the side of the mountain on Chandler Road in Huntsville, Alabama with JLM Construction and Michael Lastovic.   We could not have found a better partner to build such an ambitious and innovative project for our clients.

Due to the project’s complexity and challenging site conditions we decided to build the home with JLM Construction on a cost plus fee basis. Our confidence in this approach was bolstered by the fact that Michael Lastovic provided a detailed cost analysis before construction on the home began that ultimately proved to be accurate and dependable. It cannot be overstated how difficult this structure was to build on the mountain slope. JLM executed this complex project in a timely and expeditious manner. JLM Construction and Michael were the perfect choice to help us build this unbelievable dream home for our clients.

The site on Chandler Road provides stunning views of Jones Valley and Huntsville. Unfortunately, the only way to access these incredible views was to climb up the mountain slope high enough and create a level upper shelf so that an appropriate foundation could be constructed for this beautiful home. After the foundation was completed then every piece of material had to be brought up the steep mountain slope to construct the home. JLM Construction and Michael Lastovic never wavered or shied away from accomplishing this difficult task. Because of their hard work and persistence one of the truly great homes in Huntsville was ultimately realized. It was a true pleasure to work with Michael and his team. I am forever grateful for their talents and effort.
